Fat Loss Made Simple, Effective, & SANE

Nothing pisses me off more than when people tell me:

  • OMG, that food is so bad for you.
  • OMG, that is so processed.
  • OMG, sugar makes you fat.
  • OMG, I can never eat that.
  • OMG, I eat clean and can’t lose fat.
  • OMG, CARBS MAKE YOU FAT.
  • OMG, I can’t get in that much protein.

OMG, IT’S ANNOYING! Not because I find the people to be annoying, but it’s because they are stuck on these flawed methods, that clearly don’t work, and no matter how hard you try to make things simple for them, they want to complicate it…A LOT.

I’ll give you a brief background about who I am if you don’t know about me…

I am a physique competitor. This in turn makes me a bodybuilder. Why? How? Simple, I train for aesthetics by building my body piece by piece. That is just one part of the puzzle. The other part, especially in the competing arena, is nutrition. Prior to the factual information in terms of dieting, I followed every bit of old school bodybuilding nutrition because I thought it was the right way to do things. I would:

  • Cut carbs ultra low.
  • Eat little to no dietary fat.
  • I cut sodium.
  • I cut water close to my show.

This in turn gave me the WORST metabolic rebound I could possibly imagine. I gained back like 15lbs post show.

Fast forward to present time and my nutrition is NOTHING like that. In fact, I eat virtually anything I want, within reason, because I don’t label foods good or bad, I don’t binge eat, I don’t starve myself, and I enjoy my food. 

As a testament, this is EXACTLY what I look like 7 weeks post show.

Still lean and still vascular. My abs still show. 

As a physique competitor, watching my calorie is a little more rigorous especially while dieting and getting stage ready. After the show, is done, it’s simply a matter of maintaining what I have. This is where Flexible Dieting comes in to play.

After my show, I haven’t counted calories. In fact, if you aren’t a competitor, you may not even need to be the type that has to count calories to get lean, as long as  you devise a system that works and keeps you sane. Sure, I ate more on some days than others but thats ok. It doesn’t hurt to enjoy your life as long as in the overall, you’re working towards your goal. It really is about making sane and smart choices such as:

  • Eating more nutrient dense whole foods
  • Eating plenty of protein
  • Getting in dietary fat
  • Finding the best carb intake for yourself (i.e.: a little heavier? maybe lower carb choices would suffice whereas someone who is leaner can tolerate more carbohydrates)
  • Enjoying your snacks here and there since you won’t be CRAVING them like an addict.
  • Eating WHEN HUNGRY.

One person who I learned a lot from in the nutrition field and especially in terms of dieting is Armi Legge. He is one of the most knowledgable and compassionate guys in the industry especially in the field of nutrition. 

With that said, he has been working on a book that not only gives you explanations as to “Why Clean Eating Is A Myth”, he gives you the evidence to back up his claims so that you, as the reader/dieter, can understand 100% the what’s and why’s of “dieting”. His book Flexible Dieting was just released today and I am in TOTAL SUPPORT of this.
